Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for an experienced and highly skilled Engineer / Solutions Architect with an active Secret clearance to provide strategic technical leadership in designing, integrating, and optimizing secure IT solutions for government systems. This position will be on-site 5 days a week in Merrifield, VA.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, serving as a subject matter expert across multiple domains.
Shape and influence the organization's strategic direction through visionary planning and collaboration with stakeholders.
Design, implement, and align solution architectures with Data and Enterprise Architecture standards, ensuring compliance and modernization.
Lead development and documentation of formalized solution methodologies, maintain architecture repositories, and promote best practices.
Conduct research on emerging technologies to recommend cost-effective, flexible solutions that drive innovation across cloud, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and enterprise platforms.
Collaborate closely with delivery teams, project managers, vendors, and government stakeholders to estimate, plan, and oversee solution implementation and integration.
Model business and system processes to provide technical artifacts such as system diagrams, detailed design documents, workflow diagrams, and project plans
Provide ongoing technical guidance during solution implementation within Agile cross-functional teams, managing risks and communicating with senior leadership.
Review and advise on architectural designs from other architects to ensure adherence to industry standards, SOPs, and federal compliance requirements.
Drive modernization of legacy systems and align technology initiatives with mission objectives, fostering collaboration across development, product owners, and government teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with 12+ yrs experience with large integrated projects
Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain and hold DEA suitability
Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture
Experience in system design and development
Experience in system and network design and development
Ability to produce requirement artifacts: data flow diagrams, UML modeling techniques include sequence, component, deployment and domain models
A background in software development with ability to code at some level and knowledge of APIs and SDKs
A technical architecture background with an understanding of high-level networks, routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and operating systems
Strong experience with, web servers, API gateways, cross-domain solutions, service-oriented architectures, web services (REST), microservice patterns, service buses and integration patterns, security practices used in federal spaces
Proven experience with databases and data storage including NoSQL and SQL database
Familiarity with cross-domain solution architectures, data labeling, and secure data transfer protocols.
Experience working in secure environments, preferably within the DOJ, and understanding of FISMA, NIST, or RMF compliance.
This individual will understand the vision and communicate technology solutions along with roadmaps to achieve modernization results
Familiarity with REST, Java, and ColdFusion
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading cross-functional teams.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $210,000.00 - USD $240,000.00 /Yr.
