Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer Nuclear Effects
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite)
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in circuit board design and a strong interest in nuclear effects on electronics. In this role, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to design, develop, test, and qualify mission-critical hardware systems exposed to radiation and electromagnetic environments.
This is a hands-on, technical leadership role where you will be deeply involved in design lifecycle activities, testing, troubleshooting, and nuclear effects qualification.
Key Responsibilities

Lead circuit card design lifecycle activities: requirements capture, schematic design, documentation, signal integrity analysis, board stack-up, PCB layout coordination, and system integration.

Perform test board population, hands-on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and execution of test plans/reports.

Design, document, and troubleshoot digital and analog hardware (FPGAs, processors, DDR memory, Ethernet, I C, SPI, USB, RS-232).

Conduct qualification testing with nuclear engineers for total ionizing dose, neutron/proton interactions, dose-rate effects, and heavy-ion environments.

Travel as needed (up to 20%).

BS in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related field

Hands-on circuit board design experience with schematic capture and PCB layout oversight

U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance)

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance

Digital design background with some RF experience

Hands-on troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.

Strong ability to interpret schematics and statistically analyze test data

Excellent technical communication and presentation skills

Self-motivated, able to deliver on cost, schedule, and performance objectives
