JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineering/Senior Unix Engineer
Location: Fully on-site in McLean, VA M-F
Duration: 12 months and possible extension
Position Overview:
The UNIX engineering team is responsible for UNIX servers we have in our colocation facilities as well as the EC2 instances in the cloud. Our #1 goal is to maintain a stable, healthy, and scalable platform, providing resiliency and solid performance for all UNIX servers across our business units through automation, best practices, and SME support. We assure Stability, Availability and Reliability for thousands of servers to support a wide range of applications in a hybrid Cloud environment. We strive to prevent service impacts in a wide-ranging and constantly evolving ecosystem, assure rapid recoverability from any impacts to business and services. We strategize and transform IT with Automation and Process Engineering.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be an integral part of the Engineering team within the platform and Infrastructure services group and expected to perform in the following areas. Flexibility to be onsite for issues and server builds. Need to live close to Mclean office.
Qualifications:
- College Degree with 6-8 years demonstrated experience in Information Technology with in-depth knowledge of Linux and Infrastructure Engineering.
- Physical server Builds, Linux security concepts and familiarity with firmware patching.
- Prior experience with scripting and automation using (Python, Ansible, Jenkins and shell and bash scripting).
- Experience with CICD pipelines for code versioning and code deployments.
- Should have an inclination for innovation and current trends and focus on implementation the latest trends in-house.
- Understanding of vulnerability management and risk remediation.
- Understanding of HA and DR concepts as they apply to Infrastructure Designs.
- Experience with Legacy to Current Infrastructure migrations.
- Communicates well within the team to set clear goals and effectively relay the status and accomplishments to management.
- An eye for automating common processes.
