Job Details

Responsibilities include:
Develop and execute optical transceiver design and qualification plans, including electrical, optical, and system-level validation

Develop and execute pluggable Optics qualification requirements and drive the test of the physical components deployed in the network, as well as the end-to-end lifecycle management
Developing and maintaining optical transmission system testing bed in full characterization of optical components and modules as well as system performance measurement for optimization direction.
Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts to streamline production line testing and validation processes.

Conduct end-to-end simulations and modeling to optimize signal integrity, power efficiency, and thermal performance.

Validate optical transceiver block functionality, including loopback, DDM/DOM monitoring, FEC performance under stress
Conduct signal integrity analysis: eye mask testing, Vertical Eye Closure (VEC), Transmitter and Dispersion Eye Closure Quaternary (TDECQ), Channel Operating Margin (COM).
Perform thermal cycling, power stress, voltage margining, and environmental reliability testing
Evaluating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), optical SNR (OSNR), bit-error rate (BER), Q-factor, OSNR penalty and Q-penalty of the transmission system, including filtering, chromatic dispersion, PMD, PDL, crosstalk, nonlinearities, etc.
Configure and debug host-side switches, for example, Cisco 4k, Ciena 6500, Fujitsu 9500, etc using CLI/GUI
Verify host-module interoperability, link training, lane tuning, and signal integrity performance
Enforce standards for documentation and configuration management to ensure a high standard of quality.
Proactively engage team resources to ensure delivery schedules are meet
Capture documentation deliverables for insertion into Design Guides, Operation Guides and Engineering Packages
Demonstrates the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing time and resources to achieve specified outcomes within a clearly defined timeframe and standards.
Communicates with clarity and precision, presenting complex information in a concise format that is audience appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in optical networking, technical sales, or field applications engineering.

Demonstrated success with high-speed optical components and systems, including QSFP-DD/OSFP, coherent pluggables (ZR/ZR+), and silicon photonics-based solutions.

Deep familiarity with optical layer design, including DCI planning, ROADM deployment, mux/demux integration, and metro/regional long-haul design

Hands-on experience with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of: DWDM systems, Coherent optical transmission systems, Optical amplification technologies (EDFA, Raman), Optical protection schemes and Pluggable optics and transponders

Hands-on experience with optical test equipment for troubleshooting and validation, including OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), OSA (Optical Spectrum Analyzer), BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester), and optical power meters.

Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems, DWDM transmission systems, fiber transmission penalties, photonic integrated components, electronic (integrated) circuits, and signal analysis and processing.

Hands-on experience working with system-level optical communication hardware and components.
