Job Description

Your Role

The Application Services team plays a critical role in enhancing customer satisfaction and technical collaboration while delivering all application development through a Platform and Technology Product Operating Model. The Full Stack Engineer role will report to the Director, IT Applications (Integration and Interoperability Platform). In this role you will be deeply involved in the design, development, and deployment of secure, high-quality software solutions. Your role will focus on integrating security and automation throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code and building infrastructure that supports CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native delivery. You'll implement and enforce DevSecOps best practices tailored for Azure, contribute to infrastructure as code, and work closely with developers, testers, and cloud engineers to ensure code is secure, scalable, and production-ready from day one. This role requires a hands-on engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about code quality, automation, and secure cloud development. Our leadership model is about developing great leaders at all levels and creating opportunities for our people to grow - personally, professionally, and financially. We are looking for leaders that are energized by creative and critical thinking, building and sustaining high-performing teams, getting results the right way, and fostering continuous learning.

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of platform engineering capabilities that support enterprise-grade messaging, event streaming, and external file exchange.
  • Build and maintain cloud-native services and automation for message-oriented middleware, event streaming, and enterprise file transfer systems using technologies such as Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Confluent Kafka.
  • Define and evolve platform standards, reusable components, and automation frameworks for message-oriented middleware, event-driven architectures, and enterprise file transfer.
  • Guide the team in implementing best practices for schema management, message routing, retries, dead-lettering, observability, and operational resilience.
  • Implement the technical roadmap for the Messaging and External Exchange feature set, collaborating with product owners, enterprise architects, and security teams to align with business and compliance requirements.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on platform engineering principles, cloud-native development, and DevOps practices.
  • Drive operational excellence through automated monitoring, alerting, and incident response for messaging and exchange services.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for messaging and exchange-related issues, driving long-term remediation and reliability improvements.
  • Partner with application teams to accelerate onboarding and integration through tooling, documentation, and enablement.
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies, including AI-driven automation and intelligent routing, to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Represent the Messaging and External Exchange domain in cross-functional forums, influencing platform strategy and integration architecture.

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience), with 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud integration, or pipeline automation.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Bicep or Terraform.
  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native messaging and event streaming platforms (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Confluent Kafka).
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise file transfer technologies (e.g., IBM Sterling, Axway) and secure protocols (SFTP, HTTPS).
  • Solid understanding of message serialization formats (JSON, XML, Avro), RESTful APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Git and version control best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server platforms, containerization (Docker), and orchestration in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines) and automated cloud deployments.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to support iterative platform development.
  • Familiarity with incorporating AI coding assistants, AI agents, and/or AI models to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture, enterprise cloud integration, and Azure-native services.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders, with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong process orientation with a focus on improving operational reliability and developer productivity.
