As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-performance, scalable software applications. This hands-on engineering position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions. You will collaborate across teams to drive technical innovation, mentor junior engineers, and ensure adherence to best practices in software development and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Design & Development:
  • Lead the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems using Java 11/17, Spring Framework, and asynchronous message processing technologies like Apache Kafka.
  • Build scalable solutions leveraging NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and Microservices architecture.

Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Partner with Lead Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and business stakeholders to identify technical needs and prioritize solutions.
  • Provide functional and technical leadership while mentoring junior engineers to enhance their technical skills and career growth.

Automation & Testing:
  • Write high-quality code with a relentless focus on automated testing, including unit, functional, and integration testing using tools like JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, and Postman.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, and Sonar.

Application Performance & Support:
  • Perform complex engineering activities related to performance tuning, monitoring, deployment, and production application support, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Enforce best practices in development methodology, architecture, security, automation, and compliance.

Agile Development:
  • Work within Agile/Scrum/Kanban development teams to deliver iterative solutions while ensuring alignment with business requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in building high-volume, Java-based web applications using Spring Framework, REST APIs, NoSQL Databases (e.g., Cassandra), and asynchronous message processing (e.g., Apache Kafka).
  • Experience in developing and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
  • Proven ability in CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.

Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux command line and familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3.
  • Strong knowledge of Microservices architecture and event-driven computing.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with scaled Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in build tools (e.g., Maven) and testing frameworks (e.g., Spock, Cucumber).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.

Our Lead Software Engineering, earns between $143,800-$215,800 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
