Data Profiling, Modeling, and Report Development from EAB Navigate Export for Migration Readiness
Objective:


To reverse-engineer the structure of an EAB Navigate data export and deliver a validated suite of at least 20 reports to support a data migration initiative. The project also includes data modeling, cross-functional stakeholder reviews, iterative QA, and formal documentation for handoff.
Tasking:

 

  • Discovery, Data Profiling and Data Cleanup Plan
  • Inventory all tables and fields from the raw export
  • Profile data: count, uniqueness, nulls, anomalies
  • Identify preliminary candidate keys and joins
  • Begin scanning for data cleanup opportunities
  • Data Modeling - Deliver preliminary ERD and field mappings for review.
  • Reconstruct logical data model (ERD)
  • Define inferred business rules and transformations
  • Annotate cleanup assumptions and field behavior
  • Present preliminary model to stakeholders for validation
  • Data Cleanup and Execution
  • Deduplicate key entities
  • Standardize inconsistent formats and flag outliers
  • Resolve referential mismatches and orphaned records
  • Document all remediation logic and exceptions
  • Report Development
  • Build minimum 20 reports to support migration analysis
  • Incorporates transformation, filters, and joins as needed
  • Track report performance and document logic
  • Prioritize critical migration use cases
  • QA and Stakeholder Review
  • Validate data accuracy and logic consistency
  • Run test queries and exception reports
  • Review outputs with users, revise as needed
  • Maintain issue log and feedback loop
  • Post-Migration Validation
  • After each data load or test migration:
  • Re-test reports and validate logic
  • Update ERD and data dictionary
  • Log schema drifts or issues
  • Refresh deliverables as needed
  • Final Documentation & Handoff
  • Deliver annotated SQL, ERDs, cleanup scripts, and report definitions
  • Package all documentation and changelogs
  • Conduct knowledge transfer and closeout session
