JD - PostgreSQL Developer:
PostgreSQL Developer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of applications and systems that utilize the PostgreSQL database. This role involves a blend of database administration and software development skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Design and Development:
Designing and implementing PostgreSQL database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and other database objects to support application requirements.
SQL Development and Optimization:
Writing, optimizing, and maintaining complex SQL queries, scripts and code for data manipulation, retrieval, and reporting, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
Data Modeling and Management:
Creating and managing logical and physical data models, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security through appropriate constraints, triggers and validation rules.
Performance Tuning:
Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing tuning strategies such as index optimization, query rewriting, and database configuration adjustments.
Data migration and ETL:
Developing and executing scripts and processes for data migration, transformation, and loading (ETL) between different systems or database versions.
Collaboration and Integration:
Working closely with software developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to integrate database solutions with applications and ensure seamless data flow.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability and availability of the PostgreSQL environment.
Documentation:
Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for database schemas, queries, processes, and configurations.
Security and Backup:
Implementing and maintaining database security measures, access controls, and backup and recovery procedures to protect sensitive data.
Staying current:
Keeping abreast of the latest PostgreSQL features, tools, and industry best practices.
