RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Birmingham, AL that is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer IV with deep AWS security expertise to support and enhance protection for externally facing applications. This role is hands-on, focused on AWS security services, infrastructure-as-code, and automation. The Cybersecurity Engineer will mentor team members on new Terraform-driven AWS implementations but will not serve as a formal lead.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and analyze traffic across various applications, collaborating with multiple teams to develop protection strategies
* Implement, modify, and support AWS infrastructure using Terraform (including reusable modules and state management)
* Train and mentor team members on Terraform changes and AWS-related modifications
* Write automation scripts and tools using Python (or Go/Java/Node.js) to pull data, build reports, and integrate with AWS APIs
* Work with GitHub (Actions, protocols) to support CI/CD processes
* Collaborate with networking teams; provide support for AWS networking and load balancing needs
* Protect and support a wide range of public-facing applications
REQUIREMENTS:
* 4-5 years AWS experience working with services such as WAF & Shield, Firewall Manager, CloudFront, CloudWatch, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation
* 4-5 years Terraform experience (or 2-3 years of Terraform coding experience)
* Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with Go, Java, or Node.js acceptable
* Solid understanding of DevOps practices, Git, and CI/CD workflows
Nice-to-Have:
* AWS or HashiCorp Terraform certifications
* Experience with Bash or PowerShell scripting
* Knowledge of AWS networking (VPCs, routing, security groups) and cloud security best practices
* Docker or Kubernetes experience (optional)
Team & Environment:
* Team of 7 managing and securing multiple public-facing applications
* Blend of strong networking talent and AWS development skills
* Hands-on culture with collaboration across application, networking, and security teams
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
