RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Data Engineer Lead in Houston, TX.
Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic Lead Data Engineer to spearhead the development of innovative data products while leading a team of 3-4 engineers aligned to a specific Product Service Line (PSL). This role combines hands-on technical execution with strategic leadership, including project planning, mentoring, and code reviews.
Duties:
* Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate business goals into actionable data solutions, champion data-driven decision-making, and design scalable ETL pipelines using Azure technologies, PySpark, Python, and SQL
* Leveraging Databricks for advanced analytics, you will also perform exploratory data analysis and build insightful visualizations
* As a data product owner, you will ensure datasets are accurate, reusable, and accessible, while maintaining Power BI dashboards for diverse stakeholders
* Additionally, you will stay ahead of emerging technologies, influence architectural decisions, and help shape the long-term data platform strategy
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years in data engineering, including 1-2 years in a leadership or mentorship role
* Hands-on experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse) and Databricks
* Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and schema management
* Expertise in Power BI or similar BI tools
* Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark
* Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
