POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Network Services team, this Senior Network Administrator will share the responsibility with the Network Administrator for the design, implementation, and maintenance of all network infrastructure including active devices and cable plant. The network s availability and reliability are essential to the college s mission. The role will provide technical leadership for projects from inception through design and delivery. The candidate will work with IT leadership, technical staff, and customers to define requirements, evaluate ideas, and implement solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operational support, management, administration, and ongoing enhancement of network services
  • Tactical repair of network devices, troubleshooting in the field as appropriate
  • Support, management, administration, and ongoing enhancement of low voltage wiring plant.
  • Daily monitoring of network resources
  • Maintain inventory of all network infrastructure
  • Estimate lifecycle replacement costs and preparation of budge forecasts.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee all device upgrades and installation.
  • Provide secondary support for Network Services personnel.
  • Participate in on call rotation for afterhours problem resolutions.
  • Remain current with new network technology and research, develop pilot platforms to test and validate innovative technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related discipline and 5 years or more experience or
  • Associate degree in network management (or related) and minimum of 10 years network administration experience
  • Champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment with a focus on delivering quality solutions in a timely fashion.
  • Proven resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstratable experience managing and troubleshooting L2 and L3 networks.
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless standards
  • Proven experience managing enterprise firewalls. Experience with Palo Alto a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience in network access control (802 1X), Cisco ISE, IP packet analysis, Linux, Windows Servers, enterprise SAN, troubleshooting IPAM DNS/DHCP services, Configuration as Code, scripting and automation (Ansible, PowerShell or Python), Visio is a plus.
  • Experience with a formal Change Management Process
  • Preference to candidate who has demonstrated experience with both Responsible and Accountable roles for network services, using RACI model.
