Description
SAIC is recruiting a Linux Engineer for one of our programs supporting the FDA. This role will be responsible for system administration of various Linux operating system facets within a VMware and AWS (Amazon Web Services) environment. Responsible for system maintenance, as well as application installation and configuration within a Linux Operating System. The engineer will be supporting a data center migration task to both a cloud environment and another data center. The engineer will have the ability to utilize several migration techniques to support this migration.
Key technologies required for this role are:
RHEL/CentOS/Rocky 7+, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu 18+
VMware vCenter / vSphere / Horizon View
Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, RDS, IAM, VPCs, SecurityGroups, NACLS, etc.)
Apache / NGINX Web Services
Networking and related protocols (DNS, SMB, NFS, HTTP, SSH, etc.)
SSO and MFA (AD, LDAP, SAML, OID)
High Performance Computing / Cluster Computing
Other desired technologies:
Scripting (Shell and Python)
Automated configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
SLURM HPC Scheduler
Responsibilities:
Resolve issues and assess escalation to vendor support
Have the willingness to accept challenges outside of your expertise and comfort zone
Provide exemplary client communication skills
Ability to organize and work on multiple projects or tasks while maintaining schedules, deliverables, and industry leading SLA and uptime
Qualifications
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of clustering services, load balancing and replication services
Demonstrated experience in creating documentation of designs and solutions
Exposure to application, database, storage and network configuration within a Linux operating system administration
Ability to effectively communicate complex enterprise solutions to internal staff and customer
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Singularity, Podman, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, Fargate)
Education and Clearance:
BS or MS in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems/Engineering
5-7+ years of relevant work experience in Linux Administration
1+ years of experience working in an AWS cloud environment
Desired - One Linux related certification, AWS Solutions Architect, or SysAdmin associate certification
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
