SAP Finance & Controlling (FI/CO) Specialist

Position Summary

A government transportation department seeks an experienced SAP Finance & Controlling specialist to provide comprehensive functional and technical support for their enterprise SAP environment serving over 5,000 users. This role will maintain and enhance financial systems while ensuring alignment with governmental requirements across a complex technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, test and maintain SAP FI/CO modules (AP, AR, FA, GL, SPL) in ECC 6.0
• Configure and maintain SAP Funds Management and Budget modules
• Ensure proper integration between FI/CO/FM modules and other SAP components
• Provide production support, troubleshooting complex system issues
• Develop business requirements and technical specifications
• Analyze system change impacts across connected applications
• Create documentation following organizational change control procedures
• Align business processes with SAP Best Practices
• Maintain system integrity across the SAP ecosystem
• Develop test plans and perform thorough system testing

Technology Environment

Enterprise SAP landscape includes: ECC 6.0, BI 7.0, Business Objects, CRM, SRM, Enterprise Portal, Solution Manager, GRC, NWCE, and PI.

Business Context

The fiscal accountability and management of diverse transportation activities requires a robust business system delivering accurate and timely information to multiple stakeholders including public/private users, Federal/State government entities, and departmental administration.

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for the solution design, configuration, testing and maintenance of the SAP FI/CO modules in ECC 6.0 (AP, AR, FA, GL, SPL)
• Responsible for the solution design, configuration, testing and maintenance of the SAP FM modules and SAP Budget in ECC 6.0
• Experience and knowledge of integration points of FI/CO/FM modules and across other SAP modules
• Responsible for Production support to troubleshoot, investigate, analyze and solve software problems
• Responsible for working with business users and clients to gather and document business requirements for system changes and to develop solutions to satisfy business needs
• Responsible for analyzing the impact changes will have on other internal/external business application systems
• Responsible for developing all documentation related to system changes per NCDOT change control polices and procedures

Required Qualifications

• 7 or more years experience with configuration of SAP Finance and Controlling. (Required - 7 Years)
• 7 or more years experience with configuration of SAP Funds Management. (Required - 5 Years)
• Ability to consult with clients and team members on issues and requests that require the implementation or creation of a standard or custom solution. (Required - 5 Years)
• Ability to interpret and communicate information, to solicit appropriate information and select the best method or format for presenting information. (Required - 5 Years)
• Experience with writing functional and technical specifications, testing and training. (Required - 5 Years)

Highly Desired Qualifications

• Public Sector experience. (Highly desired - 5 Years)
• Experience with GAAP. (Highly desired)
• Experience with S/4 HANA specific to Finance. (Highly desired)
