Position Description:
This position is part of the Descriptive Analytics team. It is an Engineering and Operations position for our strategic visualization platforms in on-premises, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and Google Cloud instances. Our analytics platforms include Looker, Qlik Sense, Alteryx, WebFOCUS, and Power BI. The selected candidate will also assist with the management of cloud-based platforms and the development of tools to automate processes used to operate these platforms.
Duties:
- Evaluate, engineer, test, release and manage existing and upcoming analytics technologies for Enterprise consumption in Google Cloud, SaaS, and on-prem environments.
- Develop Onboarding, Operational and Disaster Recovery procedures consistent with the client's IT Policy.
- Work with both Enterprise Architecture and other stakeholders to gather requirements and provide customer-focused, feature-rich, resilient platforms.
- Develop new tools and processes (and simply or eliminate others) to ensure effective implementation using technologies such as PowerShell, Terraform, PowerApps, etc.
- Along with other team members, operate and administer various analytics platforms, including helping end users with infrastructure questions.
- Monitor and analyze usage data to ensure optimal performance of the infrastructure; implement permanent corrective actions as needed.
- Provide training, consultation and L2/L3 operational support.
- Follow ITIL processes for request, incident, change, and problem management.
- Provide product consultation for dedicated deployments.
Skills Required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of platform engineering and documentation processes (Run Books, 'how to' guides, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a sense of curiosity to understand how things work.
- Ability to coordinate issue resolution with vendors on behalf of the client.
- Interpersonal skills and interest in making users successful with our platforms.
Skills Preferred:
- Cloud platform experience preferred, including Terraform scripting and Tekton pipeline CI/CD experience.
- Google Cloud Services and their management.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools and methods in use (Dynatrace, Splunk).
- Understanding web and app server security configurations, including SSL certificates.
- Linux System Administration desired.
- Understanding of basic database connectivity for technologies like Big Query, Cloud SQL (PGSQL, etc.), Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, SAP systems, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell and Git/GitHub.
- Understanding of Product Life Cycle (including release cadences for service packs, patches, etc.).
- Familiarity with the Agile development framework (including Rally).
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of Windows Server admin experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Analytics platforms.
- 3+ years of experience deploying and managing large, shared application platforms.
Education Required:
- Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
