Title: Digital Communications & Design Coordinator - Onsite
Description:
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of External Affairs, the Digital Communications & Design Coordinator uses creative design expertise and digital communications skills to support the client s mission and strengthen its brand. This role is responsible for planning, designing, and producing marketing and informational materials across print and digital platforms, applying a working knowledge of evolving accessibility guidelines and consistency with the client standards. The coordinator also implements and manages digital communications strategies across web, email, social media, and other channels creating compelling content, engaging with constituents, and measuring impact.
This position requires a strong blend of graphic design, multimedia production, and digital communications skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to deliver effective, innovative solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Graphic Design & Production
Concept, design, and produce print and digital collateral, including infographics, presentations, whitepapers, eBooks, and marketing campaigns.
Develop motion graphics, video content, and interactive design elements for use on websites, social media, and other platforms.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of evolving digital accessibility guidelines, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), and integrates these principles into all design work while ensuring adherence to brand guidelines.
Digital Communications
Manage and create engaging content for social media platforms; monitor trends and respond to constituents.
Design and maintain web content, landing pages, and digital assets (WordPress and other platforms).
Support email, search, and mobile campaigns that align with organizational objectives.
Track and analyze digital campaign performance, preparing reports and recommending improvements.
Collaboration & Project Management
Partner with staff, editors, writers, IT, and external vendors to manage projects from concept through delivery.
Assist in developing and executing strategic communications plans that integrate both digital and offline tactics.
Coordinate timelines, resources, and workflows to ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables.
Innovation & Continuous Learning
Stay current with design trends, digital media tools, accessibility guidelines, and communication best practices.
Contribute fresh ideas and creative approaches that enhance audience engagement and organizational visibility.
Position Specific Competencies:
Creativity & Design Expertise Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics, video editing, illustration, branding, and typography.
Attention to Detail Ensures accuracy, adherence to current accessibility guidelines, and consistency across all deliverables.
Communication Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills; adapts style for different platforms and audiences.
Collaboration & Relationship Building Works effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners; fosters trust and cooperation.
Accountability & Initiative Takes ownership of projects, meets deadlines, and proactively seeks solutions.
Technical Expertise Proficient in digital publishing, social media management, and web content development.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field required.
3 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital media, or communications.
Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) strongly preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequently remains in a stationary position for extended periods.
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (e.g., printers, scanners, cameras).
Must be able to communicate, exchange information, and visually evaluate design and media materials.
