Job Description:

Continuation of Services / Funding Availability: This Agreement is contingent upon the availability of appropriate funds. If funds for the subsequent fiscal year are not fully appropriated or otherwise made available, this Agreement may be terminated at the discretion of Client without penalty.

The Senior WAN Engineer (Level 2) provides advanced support and engineering expertise for Client's Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), and Internet infrastructure. This role supports over 600 remote Client sites and more than 100,000 connected devices, including major district-wide initiatives such as the fiber modernization program and circuit turn-ups. This is a field-based role requiring frequent travel between Client S buildings. The candidate must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and performing hands-on work in varied building conditions. Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day oversight, resolution, and escalation for WAN/LAN components and leased circuits.

Support and configure routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points.

Actively participate in the deployment of Client's fiber network and circuit cutover projects.

Coordinate field visits to support on-site installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Implement proactive system updates, configuration changes, and security hardening.

Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and internal teams to evaluate and deploy network solutions.

Deliver technical training for support staff and document procedures and infrastructure.

Contribute to the development of IT service policies and performance standards.

Produce and share reports on network performance and infrastructure status.

Support strategic planning efforts by evaluating future network demands and opportunities.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise network design, deployment, and field support.

2-3 years of experience in large-scale network monitoring implementation and operations.

Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, wireless technologies, and security appliances.

Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating environments.

Certifications:

Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP), or other industry-recognized certifications.

Skills & Abilities:

Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Ability to manage a complex WAN supporting over 600 sites.

Proficiency in MS Office or Google Workspace tools.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.

Must pass a background check.
