Job Description
Join a dynamic team providing essential 7x24x365 technical support in a fast-paced government contracting environment. As a Tier 2 Deskside/System Technician, you'll be the primary point of contact for on-site desktop and laptop support, working directly with end users in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's IT environment. Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide on-site 7x24 deskside support and break-fix services for desktop and laptop devices
- Deploy and configure Windows 10 and 11 hardware devices with minimal disruption to operations
- Process tickets and update CMDB using ServiceNow ITSM system
- Coordinate with Tier 3 teams for system changes and upgrades
- Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations exercises
- Maintain high-availability environments through virtualization and redundancy best practices
- Perform system maintenance tasks including software upgrades, backups, and recovery
- Review systems weekly for critical updates and security threats
- Provide after-hours on-call support for production environment issues
- Document all resolutions and maintain performance standards for response times
- Configure and deploy mobile devices, laptops, thin clients, and desktop equipment
- Perform asset control tasks and equipment procurement, deployment, and disposal
- Provide guided network and systems support for customer headquarters needs
Required Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Experience preparing and deploying Dell laptop and desktop devices with Windows 10/11 imaging
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ServiceNow ITSM ticketing systems
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing technical issues
- Excellent documentation skills for trouble tickets and system resolutions
- Outstanding customer communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience ensuring workstation compliance with security patches and requirements
- Ability to perform break-fix support for end-user computer devices
- Must have or be able to obtain NRC Public Trust Security Clearance
Nice-to-Haves
- CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+ certifications
- Microsoft certifications • Experience in software testing, system administration, or IT operations
- Background in enterprise IT environments and patch deployment
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks
- Experience supporting government or high-security environments
- ITIL framework knowledge (certification training will be provided)
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience in IT support, system administration, or related technical field.
