Job Description:



  • This role monitors every phase of the software development process to ensure design quality, confirming that aircraft-delivered software meets company standards and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with systems and software development teams, test and evaluation personnel, and project managers.

  • Ensure effective communication and teamwork with excellent customer-facing and interpersonal skills.

  • Rapidly develop an understanding of the software process audit scope, technical requirements, program risks, and delivery milestones.

  • Review and approve systems, software, and test equipment requirements, as well as design and test documentation for compliance with process requirements and standards.

  • Engage with engineering counterparts to ensure processes and products meet contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in software change control boards.

  • Conduct audits of software suppliers, requiring moderate travel.

  • Mentor and train junior employees as needed.


Education:



  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (Electrical Engineering preferred).


Required Qualifications:



  • Minimum 11 years of directly related experience in aerospace/defense industry software processes (e.g., RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP-4754, MIL-STD-498).

  • Experience with government customer and FAA projects preferred.

  • Basic understanding of audit techniques and familiarity with software development and testing methodologies.

  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings, specifications, and contracts to support process review and development.

  • Experience in software requirements development, design, and coding (C/C++, Ada, or other embedded languages).

  • Background or knowledge in embedded software/hardware verification.

  • Strong technical communication skills (written, oral, listening, presentation, technical writing).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
