Google Cloud Platform BigQuery Database Administrator
Job Location: Remote
Job Type: Direct Hire/Perm
Salary: $115-$125k
Apex Systems is seeking a skilled Google Cloud Platform BigQuery Database Administrator to join our team. This role involves managing, optimizing, and securing our BigQuery data environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of BigQuery and other Google Cloud services, with a strong background in data management, security, and cost optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and optimize Google BigQuery database environments to ensure performance and cost efficiency.
- Implement and manage data ingestion and transfer processes into BigQuery.
- Utilize Google Cloud Platform services such as Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Shell to enhance BigQuery operations.
- Manage IAM roles and policies to ensure secure access to BigQuery databases.
- Automate administrative tasks using Google Cloud Platforms Secret Manager and other automation tools.
- Scale resources effectively in BigQuery to handle increased data workloads without compromising performance.
- Conduct regular security assessments and implement security measures to protect sensitive data within BigQuery.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of BigQuery with other Google Cloud Platform services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficient in SQL and experienced with relational database systems.
- Strong knowledge and experience in administering Google Cloud Platform services, especially BigQuery.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform services such as Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Storage, Cloud Shell, and IAM.
- Demonstrated ability to automate BigQuery tasks and optimize query and cost performance.
- Practical experience in scaling BigQuery resources and implementing security protocols for data protection.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across various teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications in Google Cloud Platform, particularly in data engineering and cloud architecture.
- Experience with additional technologies and tools that complement BigQuery, such as data integration and ETL tools.
- Prior experience in managing large-scale data warehouse solutions in a cloud environment.
