Job Title: IBM DataPower / API Connect Consultant
Job Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract

We are looking for an experienced IBM DataPower / API Connect Consultant to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and governance of enterprise-level API solutions. This role offers an opportunity to work on both existing platforms and new greenfield initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge technologies.

Role Overview

As a Consultant, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and managing secure APIs, while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards. You will play a critical role in API governance, automation, and integration with enterprise systems. Depending on your experience, you may work as:

  • Lead Consultant Proactive, establishes API standards/documentation, mentors team members, drives technical decisions, and supports AWS API Gateway initiatives.
  • Senior Consultant Strong hands-on development, deep technical knowledge, research-driven, focuses on execution while collaborating with Lead for guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage APIs using IBM DataPower v10 & IBM API Connect v10
  • Implement API governance, lifecycle management, and documentation
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on scope, architecture, and delivery
  • Support integration with AWS API Gateway (Lambda Authorizer) for greenfield projects
  • Automate deployments and scripting with Node.js & Python
  • Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system security (OAuth 2.0 / JWT)
  • Mentor junior developers (Lead role) and ensure best practices in DevSecOps

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in software development & API integration
  • Strong expertise in IBM DataPower & IBM API Connect
  • Proficiency in REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, OpenAPI 3.0, YAML
  • Hands-on with AWS API Gateway, Lambda, Jenkins
  • Programming/Scripting: Node.js, Python (Java background is a plus)
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Terraform (Infrastructure-as-Code)
  • Swagger Hub (API management UI)
  • Kubernetes / Microservices experience
  • API Analytics, IAM/SSO, RBAC
