Description
We are a fast-growing IT services and cybersecurity provider supporting clients across multiple industries in Metro Detroit. As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security solutions across diverse client environments. This role requires a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to varied infrastructures and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement security architectures for client environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid).
Monitor and respond to security incidents using SIEM and EDR tools.
Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis.
Configure and manage firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
Deploy and manage endpoint protection platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint).
Implement and maintain identity and access management (IAM) solutions (e.g., Azure AD, Okta, Duo).
Support compliance initiatives (e.g., NIST 800-53, CMMC, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
Develop and maintain incident response plans and playbooks.
Provide technical guidance to clients and internal teams on security best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-6 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering or security operations.
Proficiency with:
- SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, LogRhythm)
- Firewall configuration and network segmentation
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tools
- Cloud security (especially in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and incident response
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and common attack vectors (e.g., phishing, lateral movement, privilege escalation).
Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7).
Preferred Certifications
CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional
CEH - Certified Ethical Hacker
CompTIA Security+ or CySA+
Microsoft SC-200 or AZ-500
GIAC certifications (e.g., GSEC, GCIH, GCIA)
