Job Description PeopleSoft Performance & Load Testing Consultant
Role Summary
Lead the performance engineering track for a short, outcome-focused engagement. You ll architect the strategy, run discovery/workshops, design and execute load tests (preferably in JMeter), analyze results across the stack, and guide remediation. You ll also coach the client s team so they can sustain the capability post-engagement.
Responsibilities
- Discovery & Workshops: Translate business non-functional goals into NFRs/KPIs; determine iterations, test types (load, stress/spike, soak), and acceptance thresholds.
- Workload Modeling: Define concurrency, arrival rates, think times, and representative data sets tied to peak scenarios in PeopleSoft FSCM/Supply Chain.
- Environment & Data: Advise on environment topology (incl. whether a prod copy is required), data refresh/masking, and observability hooks.
- Scripting & Execution: Build/validate JMeter (or equivalent) scripts; parameterize & correlate; orchestrate test runs; ensure clean baselines.
- Analysis & Tuning: Correlate APM/logs/DB metrics; isolate bottlenecks (SQL/indexing, app server queues, IB, JVM, network); recommend fixes; verify gains.
- Enablement: Produce run books, dashboards, and handover materials; coach developers to execute and interpret future runs.
- Reporting: Provide clear findings, prioritized remediation, and a final validation report with go/no-go guidance.
Required Experience
- Performance Engineering (5+ yrs) with end-to-end workload modeling and iterative tuning.
- JMeter expertise (design, parameterization/correlation, assertions, distributed runs). Preference given to candidates who have led JMeter-based programs. PTF Testing Discussion
- ERP/PeopleSoft context: Prior performance testing in PeopleSoft strongly preferred; FSCM/Supply Chain exposure is a plus (system fluency over deep functional config). PTF Testing Discussion
- Observability & DB: Hands-on with APM/logs plus Oracle/SQL Server performance basics (plans, waits, indexing, temp usage).
- Stakeholder Leadership: Comfortable running workshops, guiding PM/execs, and partnering with developers for fix verification.
- Enablement mindset: Able to teach and leave a self-sustaining toolkit.
Nice to Have
- Load tools beyond JMeter (LoadRunner, Gatling, k6)
- PeopleSoft internals familiarity (PIA flow, App Server/Tuxedo basics, Process Scheduler/AE, Integration Broker)
- CI/CD hooks (Git/Jenkins/GitLab) for scheduled/perf regression runs
