Job Summary:
- Come join our team! We currently have an exciting Permanent (Direct Hire) opportunity in Westminster, MD for a Manufacturing Engineer responsible for providing the production team with the best processes, equipment, and tools to ensure batteries are manufactured safely and efficiently to meet our high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and maintain battery-specific manufacturing processes.
- Create accurate product structures using an ERP system.
- Ensure that new designs are manufacturable.
- Identify and implement process improvements through development, design verification testing, and qualification.
- Conduct Production Walkthrough meetings to introduce production operators to new designs.
- Train production operators for new designs and updates to current processes.
- Participate in development builds.
- Create manufacturing-related customer SDRL documents.
- Communicate tooling needs to the tooling engineer.
- Represent Operations in program-specific manufacturing meetings.
- Gather data and create labor standards for new designs.
- Participate in program IPT meetings, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with outside and inside customers.
- Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of continuous improvement.
Required:
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly driven, good work ethic.
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team structure, lead other staff, accept and understand management instruction, and manage own timescales and specified timescales effectively.
- Position requires willingness to travel 20%, (Generally within 200 miles of the facility). Infrequent travel to Europe is possible.
- Must stand more than 50% of the time and lift 50 pounds.
Desired:
- 7+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of time standards.
- Lean Six Sigma experience.
- Experience with MRP systems.
- Understanding or aerospace quality & traceability systems - ISO9001, AS9100.
- Confidence in presenting ideas and findings to colleagues and customers.
