Location: Reston, VA 20191 (Remote)

  • This position is remote. Candidates residing in Maryland, Washington, DC, or Virginia will be prioritized. Candidates should reside in a reasonable driving distance to Reston, VA.

 

Overview & Responsibilities:

  • Join a dynamic team as a Senior Software Engineer for a six-month, fully remote contract with a high potential for extension. In this role, you will be a key player in two critical, concurrent initiatives: migrating a legacy Java application to a modern AWS cloud environment and architecting a new micro frontend for another core application. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled full-stack developer to apply their expertise in both backend and frontend technologies to drive significant digital transformation.

 

You will

  • Lead the technical migration of a legacy, on-premise Java application to the AWS cloud.
  • Design, develop, and implement a micro frontend for a legacy application using Angular.
  • Containerize application components using technologies like Docker for deployment in AWS.
  • Work as a full-stack developer utilizing Java and Spring on the backend and Angular on the frontend.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure best practices in cloud architecture, networking, and security are followed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong professional background in software engineering with Java and the Spring framework.
  • Familiarity and experience with modern Java versions (Java 18+).
  • Proven, hands-on experience migrating legacy or on-premise applications to the AWS cloud environment.
  • At least three years of professional experience developing with Angular, with familiarity with modern versions (e.g., Angular 18).
  • Strong hands-on experience with core AWS Services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience building or working with micro frontend architecture.
  • Practical experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Prior experience migrating "stress applications".
