Business Intelligence Specialist

Allied Resources is hiring a Business Intelligence Specialist for a permanent leadership opportunity with a forward-thinking construction company headquartered in the Dallas, TX area. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and delivery of enterprise BI solutions across AWS, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure/Fabric.
  • Oversee existing BI platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Drive the migration of SQL Server BI solutions to Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, OneLake).
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, semantic models, and Power BI reports.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable BI solutions.
  • Define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables while managing risks and reporting progress.
  • Mentor and guide BI developers and analysts through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and best practices.
  • Establish data governance standards, documentation practices, and performance tuning processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of BI development and architecture experience across AWS and SQL Server environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI and DAX for modeling, calculations, and optimization.

  • Hands-on expertise with:
  • AWS: S3, Redshift, Lambda ETL
  • SQL Server (on EC2): SSAS, SSIS, BIML
  • Azure & Microsoft Fabric: Data Factory, Synapse, OneLake, Azure Analysis Services
  • Proven experience migrating BI platforms from SQL Server to Azure/Fabric.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL design patterns, and semantic layer development.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate and/or Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer (preferred).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Industry experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or large-scale project environments strongly preferred.
