Job Details
The Integrated Signal Management (ISM) group is responsible for safety signal detection, management, and analytics that support Global Patient Safety. The team drives innovation, research, and the implementation of advanced methods to improve signal detection, safety data evaluation, and process efficiency.
The Contract Data Scientist will support the ISM Data Science team in delivering data-driven insights and innovative solutions for pharmacovigilance and patient safety. The role focuses on applying advanced analytics, visualization, and data science techniques to safety signal detection, safety data evaluation, and operational excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform ad-hoc data analyses to support safety investigations and provide actionable insights.
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
* Contribute to innovation pilots, including applications of natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and statistical methods for signal detection and safety evaluation.
* Maintain and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations to improve visibility into safety and post-market surveillance data.
* Ensure high data quality by applying cleaning, validation, and documentation best practices.
* Assist with exploratory analysis, development, and testing of new analytical models and tools.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and strengthen safety operations.
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI, or JMP).
* Proficiency with data querying languages such as MySQL.
* Experience working with cloud computing platforms such as Databricks
* Familiarity with pharmacovigilance processes and safety data sources (e.g., Argus, FAERs, Vigibase, PCMT, or similar) preferred.
* Experience with statistical software and programming languages (Python)
* Strong communication skills with ability to present technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
* Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and matrixed environment.
Education & Experience
*Master s degree in a quantitative field such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in data analysis or data science, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
* Experience in Supervised & Unsupervised ML, NLP technologies, Generative AI, knowledge of Frequentist/Bayesian statistical method and analyses.
* Experience supporting exploratory data analysis, modeling, and/or statistical method development.
* Strong background in data management, validation, and reporting best practices.
