Job Details

The Azure Kubernetes Service ( ) team is creating a world-class container management and orchestration services for the cloud and beyond. We are the team working on container solutions for Azure on both Linux and Windows.

Our charter is to define the next generation of cloud-native infrastructure on Azure. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is excited about containers, and container orchestration with Kubernetes, who also has a passion for building DevOps tools that make it easier for people to build, deploy and scale their software on the Azure cloud. Our team members are in locations of multiple countries and continents.

As a Senior Software Engineer in this position, you will do deep technical work, focusing on enhancing Kubernetes to support running workloads in large scale on AKS. The work for this position focuses on developing infrastructure controllers, onboarding Kubernetes features, integrating with other azure services, and building foundations to support Kubernetes clusters in large scale. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of experience in commercial software development.
  • 2 years of experience in building, shipping, and operating reliable, distributed solutions.
  • 1 year of coding experience with containers and Kubernetes.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's degree in computer science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Golang and Linux.
  • Ability to engage in site-reliability engineering practices.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
