Job Description:
  • The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for building, maintaining, and performance tuning production databases to ensure high availability and performance.
  • The role includes developing and enforcing database procedures and standards, providing technical expertise, monitoring database operations, performing troubleshooting, and supporting disaster recovery preparation and testing.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • University graduation in Computer Science or a related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience; OR
  • 2-year diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline with 6 years of relevant experience; OR
  • 1-year certificate in Computer Science or a related discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Currently active professional certification or accreditation with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to complete Criminal Records Check and Enhanced Security Clearance including credit check prior to commencement.
  • DBA experience in environments of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience as a SQL Infrastructure DBA (Backups, replication, installation, configuration).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher.
  • Experience with PowerBI, PowerView, Microsoft SQL Reporting, and Analytical Services.
  • Experience with SQL Server High Availability Groups.
  • Experience querying data using Microsoft Transact-SQL Server.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years as a SQL Server DBA.
  • 4+ years experience with SQL Infrastructure and High Availability.
  • 6+ years querying and working with Transact-SQL.
  • Experience with PowerBI and SQL Reporting Services.
Responsibilities:
  • Build, maintain, and performance tune production databases.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee database procedures and standards.
  • Provide technical expertise to development teams, Application Maintenance Services, and business teams.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical database structures.
  • Monitor databases, DBMS statistics, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain database authorization and security standards.
  • Evaluate application and user requirements for database modifications.
  • Perform troubleshooting for database, software, and application issues.
  • Plan and perform DBMS software installations, upgrades, and patches.
  • Support disaster recovery preparation and testing.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and automate system procedures.
  • Monitor ongoing operations including database tuning, capacity planning, historical archiving, integrity checking, log analysis, job scheduling, scripting, indexes, reorganizations, and change control.
Should Have:
  • Strong problem diagnosis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience in Help Desk or ticket-based environments.
