About the Role
As a Software Engineer on this contingent assignment, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions. You'll work on moderately complex engineering challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive the implementation of modern, cloud-native architectures. This role requires a strong foundation in software engineering principles, hands-on experience with distributed systems, and a passion for building reliable, high-performance applications.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of scalable, event-driven microservices.
- Analyze and resolve moderately complex software engineering problems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in planning and execution of engineering deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, policies, and best practices.
- Support the development and integration of APIs and cloud-based services.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field (including consulting, military, or academic experience).
- Proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, DB2).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using CI/CD tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building scalable Java-based applications.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, APIGEE Gateway, and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) and microservices architecture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Industry-recognized technology certification(s).
