Job Details

Job Title: Technical Project Manager (TPM) – Google Cloud Platform
Location: Westchester, IL (Onsite)

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager with strong working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). The ideal candidate will lead project delivery, coordinate across onsite/offshore teams, ensure execution of data-related initiatives on Google Cloud Platform, and manage stakeholder communication. This role requires solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform services, data engineering processes, and project governance, without requiring deep hands-on architecture responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Delivery Management

  • Lead end-to-end project execution and ensure timely delivery of Google Cloud Platform-based data initiatives.
  • Drive project planning, task prioritization, sprint execution, and risk management.
  • Facilitate requirement gathering, clarification, and solution discussions with stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones, and provide regular status updates to client and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with project governance, quality standards, and documentation processes.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client teams and business users.
  • Collaborate closely with onsite and offshore teams to ensure smooth delivery, handoffs, and communication.
  • Manage expectations, address blockers, and coordinate cross-functional discussions.

Technical Oversight (Google Cloud Platform-Focused)

  • Provide guidance on Google Cloud Platform best practices related to data engineering workflows, pipelines, and operations.
  • Support teams in implementing ETL/ELT, batch, and streaming processes on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Review technical deliverables for quality, performance, and alignment with project needs.
  • Oversee aspects of data governance, data quality, and security compliance within project scope.
  • Ensure proper usage of Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, and Dataplex at a project level (no deep architectural design required).

Technical Skills Required

  • Working knowledge of key Google Cloud Platform services:
    • BigQuery (SQL, optimization basics)
    • Dataflow (batch/streaming pipelines)
    • Cloud Composer (Airflow orchestration)
    • Dataplex (governance, cataloging)
  • Good understanding of data engineering workflows, ETL/ELT processes, and data lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Python.
  • Knowledge of IAM concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Exposure to reporting tools like Power BI is a plus.

Experience

  • 7+ years of IT experience with strong background in project or program management.
  • 3+ years of hands-on exposure working with Google Cloud Platform-based data initiatives (not necessarily as an architect).
  • Experience managing onsite/offshore delivery models.
  • Proven ability to coordinate technical teams and manage large-scale data projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Platform Associate or Professional-level certification (Data Engineer or Cloud Engineer preferred).
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Exposure to Azure data services is an added advantage.
