Overview

Our client is preparing for its first-ever implementation of Workday Recruiting across the US, Canada, and UK. To support the design and deployment of this new module, our client is seeking a highly experienced Workday Recruiting Consultant to function as a client-side lead. This consultant will own the foundational design, lead functional workbooks, gather and synthesize stakeholder requirements, and guide the development of the RFP and vendor selection for the Workday Recruiting deployment.

The internal team has strong Workday product knowledge but lacks hands-on Recruiting configuration and design experience-making this role essential in shaping the initial build and ensuring successful deployment.

Key Responsibilities

First-Time Design & Build
  • Lead the full initial design, build, and deployment of Workday Recruiting for the US, Canada, and UK.
  • Own and complete the Workday Recruiting functional workbooks (MDD, FDD, configuration workbooks).
  • Define foundational Recruiting processes, workflows, requisition structures, job applications, stages, and system behavior.
  • Ensure the design aligns with Workday best practices and supports the client's operating model.

Stakeholder Requirements Gathering
  • Conduct structured interviews and workshops with Talent Acquisition, HR, HR Ops, and business leaders.
  • Document requirements across multiple business lines, functions, and hiring models.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable system requirements.
  • Facilitate alignment and decision-making across diverse stakeholder groups.

Legacy Platform Consolidation
  • Assess current-state Recruiting processes across multiple legacy ATS/recruiting systems.
  • Identify data, workflow, and process variations requiring standardization.
  • Help define the future-state model that consolidates disparate tools into Workday Recruiting.
  • Advise on migration considerations (candidate data, job requisitions, job applications, etc.).

RFP & Vendor Selection Support
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for the development of the Workday Recruiting deployment RFP.
  • Define scope, functional requirements, and evaluation criteria.
  • Participate in partner evaluations, demos, scoring, and selection.
  • Provide structured documentation and knowledge transfer to the selected SI partner.

Implementation Readiness & Client-Side Leadership
  • Prepare design documentation, decision logs, and project inputs required for a successful deployment.
  • Act as the bridge between HRIS, TA, HR, business stakeholders, and the future implementation partner.
  • Help ensure all Recruiting workstreams remain aligned with overall HCM program objectives.
  • Optionally support early deployment activities in a client-side leadership capacity.

Required Experience
  • 5+ years Workday Recruiting technical experience.
  • Proven experience leading first-time Workday Recruiting deployments or major redesigns.
  • Strong background completing Workday Recruiting workbooks (MDD, FDD, config).
  • Experience gathering and documenting stakeholder requirements across multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated experience consolidating multiple legacy recruiting platforms into Workday.
  • Strong functional understanding of Recruiting processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting RFP development and evaluating Workday implementation partners.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and client-facing leadership skills.

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with Workday HCM, Talent, or Advanced Compensation.
  • Consulting background or previous SI experience.
  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with diverse hiring models.

Soft Skills
  • Highly proactive, ownership-driven, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to bring clarity to complex requirements and diverse stakeholder inputs.
  • Confident facilitator with strong documentation and decision-driving skills.
