Technical Business Analyst
Reports To: Integration Team Manager
Location: Remote
Job Overview
The Technical Business Analyst will gather, analyze, and document requirements for IT applications, systems, and business processes, supporting integration and data exchange efforts across the organization. Higher Education and Ellucian Banner experience are critical. This role involves collaboration with business units, IT teams, and third-party vendors to support mission-critical initiatives while translating business needs into actionable technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Requirements & Documentation: Gather, analyze, and document data integration and business process requirements, creating source-to-target mapping specifications, interface control documents, data models, and data flow diagrams
• Data Quality & Analysis: Profile source data, identify data quality anomalies, and document transformation and enrichment business rules using strong SQL and data analysis skills
• Testing & Validation: Author and execute data integration test cases, log defects, and communicate findings to stakeholders, engineers, and vendors
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate requirement-gathering meetings, assess process improvement options, and translate business requirements into developer-friendly specifications
• Technical Design: Analyze third-party APIs and data exchange methods, design functional mockups and wireframes for internal web-based tools
Required Qualifications
• Higher Education experience and Ellucian Banner SIS experience are critical
• 3+ years of experience in requirements analysis, data analysis, and process design
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in Agile/SCRUM methodologies and requirement documentation (user stories, process diagrams, specifications)
• Strong SQL, data profiling, and data analysis skills
• Knowledge of APIs, data services, ETL, and data warehousing
• Experience with diagramming tools and creating test cases
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills • Expertise in data modeling and logical design
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of Python, Node.js, or other scripting languages
• Agile/SCRUM certifications
• Advanced Excel and business intelligence tools experience
• Experience with Salesforce CRM and higher education data models
