Overview:

We are seeking a Service Desk Technician who will support our client. The Service Desk Technician will support NYS agency end users, applications, and computing hardware, while also assisting with A/V, mobile devices, and account management. Limited travel (approx. 5%) may be required to remote NYSERDA offices

Duties:

  • Provide first-line support to end users via phone, email, ticketing system, and in-person.

  • Support NYS agency -approved applications, including Office365, Windows, Salesforce, SharePoint, Webex, Jira, SAS, Treat, MatLab, ArcGIS, Intune, and others.

  • Configure, deploy, and support computing hardware (laptops, desktops, thin clients, Chromebooks, mobile devices).

  • Assist users with webinars, A/V equipment, and conference room technology.

  • Manage user accounts (password resets, permissions, access).

  • Support and update VMware-based virtual desktop environments.

  • Maintain asset inventory and perform regular equipment audits.

  • Coordinate with vendors for software licenses, hardware, and services.

  • Provide training to end users on supported systems, devices, and applications.

  • Maintain and distribute loaner devices.

  • Prepare and configure IT equipment for new hires and staff relocations.

  • Assist in identifying phishing or scam emails and escalate to ISO.

  • Provide limited remote and onsite support for NYC, Buffalo, and West Valley offices.

  • Stay informed of IT trends and recommend solutions to advance NYS agency technology goals.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 1 3 years of experience in IT support or service desk role.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.

  • Understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS).

  • Hands-on experience with hardware deployment, imaging, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Active Directory support.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience with help desk ticketing systems.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other common desktop applications.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., computer equipment).

  • Experience with asset management and mobile device management.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages.

  • Prior Intune experience.

  • VIP/"white glove" support exposure.

  • Ability to adapt quickly from task-based to interrupt-driven work.

  • Experience supporting remote users and traveling staff.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple platforms.

  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
