Job Title: Firmware QA Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, energetic Firmware QA Engineering contractor to join our team working on CPU for cutting-edge server systems.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Execute manual and automated test procedures to validate various hardware and software features to determine functional issues/failures on cutting-edge server systems
Capture, analyze, and report failures to engineering and debug teams using various internal hardware test tools, internal software utilities or third-party utilities
Capture, scrub, and record results/data into a database, write up detailed description of failures seen, and manage defects
Validate automated test cases by tightly following the guidelines and procedures documented in the test cases.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer / Electrical Engineering/ Technology or equivalent training and experience
Strong background in computer hardware, software, and PC architecture
PC hardware and software troubleshooting skills, required
Ability to apply knowledge and principles of PC architecture to trouble shoot hardware compatibility issues, required
Understanding of server CPU architecture and system BIOS, alongside familiarity with modern interconnects and memory technologies (e.g. PCIe, CXL, DDR), preferred
Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, preferred
Working knowledge of defect tracking systems (e.g. Jira), collaboration systems (Confluence), preferred
Working knowledge/experience with the installation of Linux and Windows operating systems including device drivers, preferred
Comfortable with scripting and/or familiarity with test automation, preferred
Highly self-motivated, capable of working independently, showing initiative, as well as thriving in a fast-pace and collaborative environment, required
Exceptional problem-solver, displaying critical thinking and analytical skills, attention to details, a must
Quick learner with the ability to grasp and apply new, complex technical concepts rapidly, required
Excellent in both writing and verbal communication, capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues
