Position Overview
The Process Control Engineer will play a key role in supporting and improving process control systems within a high production manufacturing environment. This position combines project leadership, advanced process control expertise, and collaboration with operations and engineering teams to enhance plant safety, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables that align with business priorities, safety standards, reliability goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide process control expertise for both capital and maintenance projects, from identifying control objectives to implementing and testing control strategies.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as alarms, operator interventions, control utilization, and overall system performance.
- Develop, maintain, and support advanced process control applications, process optimization strategies, information management systems, and alarm databases.
- Work with operations and engineering teams to design and implement control strategies that increase safety, performance, profitability, and efficiency.
- Partner with the Process Control Application Technician (PCAT) to provide troubleshooting, tuning, and enhancements to existing control systems.
- Lead loop tuning efforts to improve system stability and responsiveness.
- Set weekly priorities and focus areas for the PCAT within assigned operations.
- Coordinate and manage capital and expense projects involving process control.
- Provide training and guidance to Operations, Instrumentation & Electrical Maintenance, and Technical staff on control systems and applications.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day process control resource for assigned areas under the direction of the Process Control Group Leader.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 2+ years experience in process control engineering.
- Prior experience with Honeywell DCS and Emerson DeltaV control systems desired.
- Understanding of industrial communication networks, field instruments, valves, and analyzers.
- Understanding of Multivariable Control and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Experience in the pulp, paper, or fiber industry a plus.
- Strong understanding of control system theory and practical applications.

- Target Compensation: $110k – 130k based on skills and experience
