Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Microsoft-focused Migration Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise data migration initiative for Discover users integrating into Capital One s Google Workspace environment. This role will play a critical part in migrating Microsoft 365 data (Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive) to Google Workspace while also ensuring governance, compliance, and operational readiness of Capital One s Microsoft tenant.
The ideal candidate brings deep Microsoft 365 engineering experience, strong migration background, and the ability to serve as a subject-matter expert during SaaS-to-SaaS and on-prem-to-cloud transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support large-scale migrations from Microsoft (on-prem or Microsoft 365) to Google Workspace
- Manage migration of Outlook, email, calendar, OneDrive, and related user data
- Ensure Microsoft tenant governance, compliance, and security standards are met
- Support lift-and-shift activities into the Microsoft tenant as needed
- Act as a Microsoft subject-matter expert to validate architecture, migration approaches, and technical decisions
- Collaborate with risk, cybersecurity, architecture, and integration teams
- Support application integrations with Google Workspace and Microsoft platforms
- Work with Google APIs and Microsoft Power Platform where required
- Participate in quarterly PI planning and ongoing technical strategy discussions
- Balance hands-on engineering (approx. 75%) with planning and stakeholder collaboration (approx. 25%)
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 10+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration and architecture
- Proven experience with SaaS-to-SaaS or on-prem-to-cloud migrations
- Solid understanding of Microsoft governance, compliance, and security controls
- Experience supporting post-migration environments
- PowerShell scripting experience (highly preferred)
- Experience with Power Platform is a strong plus
- Exposure to AWS (preferred); Azure/Google Cloud Platform experience is beneficial but not required
- Ability to function as a senior/architect-level engineer in migration projects
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Google Workspace experience
- Experience migrating from Microsoft to Google Workspace
- Python, Java, Node.js scripting experience
- Prior experience with Capital One or Discover (highly preferred)
Interview Process
- One 60-minute Zoom video interview
- Interview panel: Hiring Manager (Zachary) and one additional team member
- Interview format: Technical and scenario-based discussion (no coding or whiteboard test)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must work onsite in a hybrid model (Richmond preferred, followed by Plano TX or McLean)
- Interviews expected to begin the week of January 5
