Job Details
The Test Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role within the Value Stream Team, ensuring the reliability and functionality of target applications, including Salesforce and SAP. By leveraging expertise in automation testing methodologies and tools, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance test frameworks, drive best practices, and continuously improve testing strategies. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role may include Test Lead duties, showcasing leadership and coordination skills to ensure testing excellence.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca for test automation
- 3+ years of experience delivering test automation as a shared service aligned with enterprise strategies or departmental roadmaps
- 3+ years of experience managing test data using Test Data Services (TDS)
- 3+ years of experience in test automation infrastructure architecture and setup
- 4+ years of expertise in test management standards and tools
Nice to Have
- Experience with mobile application testing
- Familiarity with Tricentis qTest and API testing
- Experience configuring and using Power BI
- Competency with other test automation tools
- Understanding of industry test automation trends and a continuous improvement mindset
- Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines
- Proven project management skills
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical subject matter expert (SME) in Tosca Automation and related testing methodologies
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for the Value Stream Team (VST) using tools such as Tricentis Tosca
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of automation test frameworks and strategic roadmaps for the VST
- Establish and enforce policies and practices for excellence in automation strategies, including unit, integration, system, UAT, exploratory, and non-functional testing
- Maintain and optimize reusable test scripts to support scalable and efficient test execution
- Track and manage quality assurance metrics to meet or exceed team performance benchmarks
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and developers to analyze testing requirements, define automation scenarios, and align testing strategies with stakeholder needs
- Organize technical capabilities, processes, and personnel for both manual and automated testing initiatives
- Promote automation best practices and maintain regression test suites across legacy systems, web applications, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android)
- Oversee testing schedules to ensure timely delivery of milestones and adherence to overall project timelines
- Ensure compliance with organizational and industry software testing standards
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend quality improvements to enhance application reliability and performance
- Communicate test results and actionable insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels
- Coordinate with IT delivery teams, business partners, and service providers to execute test automation strategies aligned with NiSource delivery frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, Iterative)
- Partner with DevOps teams to integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines and optimize workflows
- Serve as the primary liaison for Value Stream Application Support Teams, addressing incidents and providing configuration and operational support
- Ensure alignment with NiSource PMO methodology and QA standards to maintain consistency and quality across projects
- Stay current on market trends, tools, and best practices in test automation to drive innovation and continuous improvement
