Description

Churchill Consulting Engineers is seeking an entry-level structural design engineer to join our team! Churchill is a full-service engineering firm that provides public and private sector clients with planning, design, surveying, permitting, and construction management services for a broad range of civil, environmental, and transportation projects. As a Structural Engineer, you will assist senior engineers with the development of engineering designs for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects overseen by regional agencies such as the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects and grow within a well-established consulting firm. Candidate should be organized, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a senior level engineers, design various project elements including foundations, abutments, wingwalls, retaining walls, bearings, superstructures, and bridge decks.
Prepare contract plans and details using Civil 3D and MicroStation software for new bridge/culvert construction and rehabilitation of existing structures.
Develop bridge/culvert staging plans.
Perform engineering design calculations
Prepare quantity calculations and supplemental specifications
Perform site visits to support design efforts
Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies and prepare meeting minutes
Work within a team

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
0-5 years of related experience
Strong communication and technical writing skills
Ability to work within a team and independently
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent computer skills are required. Must be efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Passed FE and/or PE Exam
Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation
Experience in bridge/culvert design
Prior experience with NJDOT and NJTA standards
