Role Summary
Client is seeking a Systems Engineering Process Engineer to support at their Tustin, California location. This position plays a key role in optimizing the engineering development lifecycle focusing on requirements management and test management processes. The ideal candidate will have a systems mindset, a strong process orientation, and deep experience implementing tools like Jama. This is a high-impact role supporting process definition, tool configuration, training, metrics reporting, and cross-functional alignment across engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization
- Define, document, and deploy scalable and efficient processes for:
- Requirements management (elicitation, analysis, allocation, traceability, validation)
- Test management (planning, design, execution, reporting)
- Identify areas for process improvement, simplification, and automation.
Tooling & Infrastructure
- Support the configuration and architecture of tools (e.g., Jama).
- Implement workflows, templates, and process guidance within tooling environments.
- Troubleshoot and provide expert support for tool-related issues.
Training & Mentorship
- Develop and conduct training sessions for engineers on new and existing processes.
- Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert on systems engineering best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with systems engineers, hardware/software teams, V&V teams, and program managers to ensure alignment and adoption of processes.
- Facilitate process review workshops and cross-functional feedback sessions.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and buy-in.
Metrics & Reporting
- Define KPIs to assess process health and effectiveness.
- Create dashboards and generate reports on adherence, bottlenecks, and improvement outcomes.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in process management.
- Conduct regular audits and implement feedback loops for refinement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or a related field).
- Minimum 5 years of systems engineering experience with a strong focus on process development, requirements, or test management.
- Prior experience in industries like automotive, aerospace, or other complex product environments.
- Proficiency in requirements/test management tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS, Polarion).
- Strong understanding of full product development lifecycles.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting.
