Title: Senior Grafana Developer / Observability Specialist
Location options: Concord, CA / SFO, CA / San Leandro, CA
Contract: 12 to 24 months (Possible conversion to FTE)

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Grafana Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and building Grafana dashboards, along with deep expertise in observability tools and systems. You will work closely with our DevOps and production support teams to develop robust monitoring solutions that drive actionable insights and improvements across our infrastructure and applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated Grafana dashboards for monitoring and visualizing metrics, logs, and traces across various systems.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, production support, and engineering teams to understand monitoring needs and build solutions tailored to specific business requirements.
  • Integrate and manage observability tools, including but not limited to Prometheus, Splunk, Elastic, AppDynamics, and others.
  • Write advanced queries and searches to extract meaningful insights from large datasets across various platforms like Oracle, SQL Server, and other database systems.
  • Leverage data visualization to tell compelling stories that help non-technical stakeholders understand key performance metrics, system health, and application performance.
  • Provide expertise in the configuration and use of observability tools to enhance monitoring capabilities and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to analyze system performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with production support teams to respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and develop post-mortem reports.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current trends and best practices in observability, logging, and monitoring.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience building and designing Grafana dashboards.
  • Strong experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Splunk, Elastic, and AppDynamics.
  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, and other relational database systems.
  • Proficiency in writing complex queries and searches (SQL, Elasticsearch, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines and automation framework s.
  • Experience with production support, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to visualize data effectively and tell compelling stories that communicate the importance of metrics and performance.
  • Solid understanding of system monitoring, alerting, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
