Job Details
The Director of Information Technology will lead the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all IT functions across the organization. This executive will be responsible for both day-to-day IT operations and long-term digital transformation initiatives, including the integration of our Yardi environment and how it integrates with complementary platforms in the real estate and corporate technology ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT leader with deep experience in C-Suite engagement, enterprise architecture, team leadership, Microsoft 365 ecosystem management, cybersecurity, and MSP vendor oversight paired with strong familiarity in Yardi and real estate technology.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & IT Governance
- Define and execute the organization's IT vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with company goals.
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, security protocols, and business continuity plans.
- Manage IT budgets, cost optimization, license tracking, value added initiatives, and procurement strategies.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to identify and implement technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Lead training and roll out of technology initiatives company wide.
Enterprise Systems, Real Estate Tech, and Yardi Ecosystem
- Collaborate with the Operations team to enhance Yardi Investment Suite
- Oversee system integration with complementary platforms, including:
- Asset Management & Accounting: Yardi & Argus
- Treasury & Cash Management: Kyriba, G-Treasury
- Business Intelligence & Data Tools: Excel VBA, Python
- Property Management Support: Building Networks, BMS Systems, Security Systems, Telecom.
- Base Corporate Function: Microsoft 365, SharePoint, One Drive, Teams, File Management
- Support the integration of various technologies to deliver customized reporting, data modeling, and real estate business intelligence solutions.
- Partner with operations, property accounting, leasing, and finance teams to ensure technology aligns with corporate and portfolio reporting requirements.
- Deliver onboarding, training, and documentation for all users of the real estate tech stack.
- Review and interpret data requirements to support accurate system design and data management.
IT Operations, Infrastructure & Security
- Oversee day-to-day management of all IT operations, including systems administration, help desk support, cybersecurity, and Microsoft cloud services.
- Own and manage the company s Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Defender, etc.).
- Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of networks, servers, and infrastructure systems.
- Administer firewalls, switches, VPN, wireless networks, data backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of IT systems and systems architecture.
- Implement and oversee cybersecurity training, user access controls, MFA, and phishing protection.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Directly supervise the in-house IT team, including desktop support personnel.
- Oversee day-to-day management of a third-party Managed Services Provider (MSP), ensuring SLAs and quality standards are consistently met.
- Lead IT support and "break-fix" operations across offices and property sites.
- Develop IT team members, providing training and mentoring aligned with company needs.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in a real estate investment or property management firm.
- Expertise in Yardi Voyager and Yardi Investment Suite, with demonstrated experience leading full-scale implementation projects.
- Strong experience managing enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365 and other real estate and financial systems.
- Solid foundation in networking, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Proven success managing internal teams and external MSP vendors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in translating technical concepts to business users.
- Ability to work across teams and influence team members without direct authority in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Education & Certifications
- Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; Master s degree or Accounting background is a plus.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Yardi Certification are a strong plus.
