Job Title: Database Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 12+ Months
Experience: 10+ Years

What is in it for you?

We are looking for experienced Database Engineers with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and a working knowledge of Ruby. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in database design, optimization, and refactoring, and will be comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, refactor, and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, tables, and complex joins

  • Analyze and improve query performance and indexing strategies

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient data access and storage

  • Implement best practices for database security, backup, and recovery

  • Work with Ruby-based applications to support data integration and backend logic

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in development and production environments

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions

  • Drive project and technology goals in compliance with organizational objectives

Skills: Mandatory Skills:

  • 10+ to 12+ years of experience in database engineering or administration

  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including:

    • Table refactoring

    • Complex joins

    • Query optimization and performance tuning

  • Basic experience with Ruby programming and integration with databases

  • Solid understanding of relational database principles and data modeling

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Good to Have Skills:

  • Experience with database monitoring tools and performance dashboards

  • Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)

  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies

Educational Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree BE/ME/BTech/MTech/BSc/MSc

  • Technical certification in multiple technologies is desirable
