Field Service Technician

Job Title: Field Service Technician

Project Type: Contract to Hire

You will be required to travel to various client sites as part of the role, and all fuel expenses will be reimbursed by the client.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Field Service Technician to provide technical support for restaurant technology systems, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, networking equipment, and other specialized hardware and software. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.


• Provide on-site technical support and assistance to restaurant staff.

Installation & Maintenance

• Install, configure, and test hardware and software systems.


• Perform regular and quarterly preventative maintenance, including some after-hours work as needed.

Networking & Cable Management

• Terminate, test, and replace network cables (Cat5/Cat6/Cat7).


• Manage and organize cable layouts to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Training & Documentation

• Train restaurant staff on the use of new systems and equipment.


• Maintain detailed documentation of support requests, configurations, and resolutions.

Asset & Inventory Management

• Track hardware, software licenses, and inventory levels.


• Assist with system rollouts, upgrades, and new installations.

Security & Infrastructure

• Maintain secure and efficient network infrastructure.


• Provide technical support for online ordering and delivery platforms.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.


• Experience with cable installation and termination.


• Prior experience supporting restaurant or retail technologies is highly desirable.

Certifications

• CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications preferred.


• Equivalent experience (5+ years) may be considered in place of certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders up to 10 ft high.


• Basic contractor skills required (e.g., drilling, mounting hardware).


• Comfortable performing light construction work such as mounting devices on walls or countertops.
