Position Title: Senior Google Cloud Platform Security Engineer
Duration (possibility to extend or convert DH): 3-4 months
Remote/Hybrid/On-site: Fully remote
Reason for Opening / Budget Approved: New position to support the Google Cloud Platform security functions on the mobile app layer
Business Objectives: Migrating Google Cloud Platform to AWS
Product/ Application Supporting: Healthcare recommendation services offering
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce security best practices across Google Cloud Platform environments, including tenancy configuration, native guardrails, and compliance controls
- Work closely with SIEM and incident response teams to onboard Google Cloud Platform logs and integrate with security monitoring solutions
- Collaborate with IAM teams to support migration from native Google Cloud Platform IAM to enterprise IAM frameworks
- Develop and maintain reusable security infrastructure components (IaC) for Google Cloud Platform
- Provide input on container security practices with a focus on Kubernetes
- Partner with mobile and web development teams to advise on secure architecture, code reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments
- Monitor and evaluate Google Cloud Platform service releases for potential security and compliance implications
- Support security during the transition of workloads from Google Cloud Platform to AWS
- Assist in developing incident response processes for cloud-native resources
- Provide mentorship to internal teams and drive a culture of secure development practices
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in cloud and infrastructure security, with at least 3 years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform security work
- Deep familiarity with Google Cloud Platform resource hierarchy, IAM, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, and native Google Cloud Platform security controls
- Strong understanding of security frameworks and cloud compliance standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.)
- Experience with Kubernetes container security best practices
- Proven ability to lead or support enterprise-wide cloud security initiatives
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advise and influence cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with mobile application security (iOS, Android, Flutter preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud Certified: Professional Cloud Architect or Cybersecurity Engineer
- GIAC certifications (e.g., GCSA, GPCS) or CISSP
- Experience with DevSecOps and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud security tools and practices
- Understanding of mobile API security, OAuth flows, and app-layer data protection
