Job Details

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Jira Administrator Lead to oversee the administration and strategic implementation of Atlassian tools across the organization. As the lead, you will manage the configuration of Jira and related platforms, mentor a team of administrators, and drive process improvements that align with business and technical objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Jira administration function, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and best practices.
  • Design and implement scalable workflows, permission schemes, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Jira administrators or support staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Jira and Atlassian tool governance and strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, PMO, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into Jira configurations.
  • Oversee integration of Jira with third-party systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Slack, ServiceNow).
  • Drive automation using Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, or other tools to streamline processes.
  • Develop and enforce standards, best practices, and documentation for Jira usage across teams.
  • Lead efforts in system upgrades, plugin management, user onboarding, and license compliance.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and usage metrics; recommend improvements as needed.
  • Stay updated with Atlassian product updates, roadmap changes, and community best practices.
  • JAMA experience or knowledge
  • JIRA Plug-in experience or knowledge or exposure (like Planview, Alteryx, Knime etc..)

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience administering Jira and Confluence in large or complex environments.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience within technical or administrative teams.
  • Expertise in Jira project configurations, workflows, schemes, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and ITSM methodologies.
  • Experience with Jira Cloud and/or Jira Data Center.

Preferred:

  • Atlassian certifications (ACP-120, ACP-610, ACP-520).
  • Proficiency with advanced add-ons (ScriptRunner, Advanced Roadmaps, BigPicture).
  • Experience integrating Jira with CI/CD, service desks, and development tools.
  • Scripting knowledge (Groovy, Python, Bash) and familiarity with REST APIs.
  • Experience managing enterprise-level Atlassian tool instances.
