Job Details

Description
We are seeking an experienced Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. This role involves advanced deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of GPUs, servers, networking equipment, and cabling within a data center environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with rack installations, cable management, and interpreting BOMs, as well as strong knowledge of Ethernet and fiber technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment & Installation
  • Rack and stack servers, switches, and network equipment.
  • Land fully populated GPU or network racks, including baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable trays.
  • Install, test, and label copper and fiber infrastructure (SM, MM, MPO).
  • Handle and install optical modules (SFP, QSFP) and clean fibers (SC, LC, MPO).
  • Configure IP addresses and default credentials on servers.
  • Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform break-fix tasks on GPUs, servers, network devices, and cabling.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues; replace defective components and manage returns.
  • Update firmware and assist network admins with connectivity issues, cable rerouting, and optics replacement.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and ticket resolution using ITSM tools.

Project & Team Leadership
  • Review build documentation and validate materials against BOMs.
  • Direct data center build activities and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Manage multiple projects under high-pressure environments and monitor deadlines.
  • Serve as liaison between team members and management; prioritize workload effectively.
  • Provide thought leadership to support program growth.

Additional Duties
  • Audit servers and consumables.
  • Document progress using customer tracking tools, MS Office, and photos.
  • Ensure adherence to safety measures and data center standards.
  • Work with DC power and DC-powered equipment.
  • Travel as required.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of data center deployment and break-fix experience.
  • Expertise in rack installation and cable management.
  • Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling (copper, fiber SM/MM/MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.
  • Experience with optical modules (SFP, QSFP) and fiber cleaning.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft data center environments and telecom engineering designs.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications & Skills

  • CompTIA A+, Server+, CCENT (or equivalent experience).
  • CCNA, MCP/MSCE preferred.
  • Windows OS experience.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash) preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $46.20 - $46.20/hr.
