GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Satellite Flight Software Developer to join our team located in Englewood, CO.

The primary role for the candidate involves C/C++ and Python software application development for embedded real-time software systems. The development ranges from low-level Board Support Package (BSP) development for our avionics solutions to Flight Software Applications executing as real-time software within our satellites.
We also have secondary roles and opportunities for C/C++ and Python ground software application development, where the ground software applications are deployed as Amazon cloud services. These applications provide capabilities for the command and control of our satellites and satellite operations.
This position will involve leadership of a small development team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical leadership of small development teams, which involves leading and mentoring junior engineers on software development and delivery of software products.
- Performing Cost Account Management (CAM) and subcontractor management.
- Perform the technical objectives within the software development life cycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Test) phases.
- Ensure that General Atomics processes are properly followed.
- Work with the team on software solutions to support the planned product delivery.

Job Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information system or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrated experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) is essential.
- Strong proficiency in software development using C/C++ and Python languages is necessary.
- Hands-on experience with embedded software development and real-time applications, such as real-time Linux or VxWorks, is critical.
- Familiarity with the software development life cycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Test) is expected.
- Knowledge of the Agile SCRUM development process is important.
- Expertise in working within a Linux development environment is required.
- Candidates with experience in the NASA core Flight System (cFS) framework are preferred.
- Experience in cloud-based software development is desirable.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, including DevOps or DevSecOps pipelines, is desirable.
- Proficiency in Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, BitBucket, Bamboo) is an asset.
- Experience with Docker containers is advantageous.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required; active and current Top-Secret clearance is desired.
