Job Description Summary
Have you been looking for an exciting technology and people leadership role that enables you to make a true impact for GE Aerospace's airline customers and internal teams? This role as Sr. Director - Software Engineering within Customer Experience DT may be the one for you! In this role, you will lead a global team of software engineers and architects who are building some of the most strategic AWS-based enterprise platforms in our business. These platforms, some of which are very quickly approaching major implementation milestones, process over 16 million operational flight data records every month from over 42,000 GE & CFM engines to give our customers advance insights into engine condition and maintenance needs, helping avoid disruptions to airline operations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of both individual contributors and other people leaders responsible for system architecture, front- and back-end development, data engineering, testing, and operations (including cyber security and obsolescence risk management).
  • Apply FLIGHT DECK fundamentals such as visual management and structured problem solving to deliver a highly-reliable, customer-driven diagnostics operation.
  • Partner with Fleet Support functional and product leaders to develop strategy, mature roadmaps, develop program plans, resolve competing priorities, and drive on-time delivery across a portfolio of digital products.
  • Drive technical strategy to build a robust platform that provides data consistency, reliability, quality, and ease of consumption for our business and customers in the Flight Data domain.
  • Ensure ongoing organizational vitality to ensure the team continues to deliver complex software platforms and research projects of varying size and duration.
  • Own and manage outsourcing strategy for the category, working in conjunction with peers to ensure we have a holistic strategy that leverages best practices and organizational scale.
  • Forecast and manage total engineering spend for the category, including outsourcing and cloud. Identify and execute ideas to control/reduce costs through productivity and cost-efficient design.
  • Role-model and coach the team in application of Lean and Agile principles and tools, especially Scrum, daily and weekly management, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Standard Work is defined and followed for key processes, including implementation of relevant Aerospace DT Process Improvement VSM standards.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to define roadmaps for future technology platforms and architecture for products and services.
  • Align with stakeholders to ensure that data and process changes required in systems are implemented in accordance with project objectives and timelines.
  • Use data to anticipate, communicate, and mitigate risks to safe & secure, high-quality, and on-time delivery of software releases.
  • Actively present leadership updates to GE executive sponsors and customers.
  • Contribute to a culture of inclusion and engagement within CX DT, focusing on strategies to ensure high engagement and empowerment of the team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 10 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 13 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 15 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Software Engineering or IT
