Responsibilities - Design subjective and objective Front-of-Screen (FOS) visual quality test procedures that focus on the most important features, use-cases and risk areas, while fitting within allotted time constraints
- Document plans clearly, sharing within the team and with cross-functional partners for feedback before ultimately presenting to organizational leadership
- Execute documented visual quality test procedures while carefully accounting for all of the necessary variables that can impact the test results
- Analyze test results, thoroughly and carefully, to draw insightful conclusions, partnering with teammates and cross-functional partners to better understand observations as-needed to fully contextualize results and the visual quality implications
- Present analysis results within the team and with cross-functional partners for feedback before ultimately presenting to organizational leadership
- As needed, provide domain expertise and leadership to coordinate with cross-functional partners to drive issue demonstration and resolution
- As needed, apply domain expertise to develop alternative or corrective color and display management prototypes along with procedures to clearly demonstrate how the prototype impacts Front of Screen (FOS) visual quality
Minimum Qualifications - Experience or demonstrable expertise and interest in the following areas:
- Subjective and Objective Image Quality Assessment and commonly used metrics
- Proficiency in Linux/Darwin command line environments
- Software Tools and Automation Development: Python, Matlab, Shell Script
- Video, Image, and Display Colorimetry Standards
- Color & Display Management, principles and practical applications
- Familiarity with Apple products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) and display-oriented features (e.g., Auto Brightness, True Tone, Night Shift, HDR rendering)
- Degree in CS/EE or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications - Software development experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Objective-C/Swift, TCL
- Knowledge or experience in HDR WCG formats, such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG-HDR
- Knowledge or experience in video and image systems and display technologies and laboratory tools and equipment commonly used to evaluate them
- iOS/macOS development experience
- Experience conducting or participating in subjective visual quality user studies
Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
