Position: System DB2 z/OS Support Specialist (DBA)

Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid) (First Week in the office, rest Remote)

Duration: 6 Months Contract (1-year Possible Extension)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Support Specialist to provide comprehensive support across multiple state agencies. This role involves DB2 system-level administration, performance tuning, and issue resolution in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement DB2 version upgrades for current and future releases across all agencies.
  • Optimize DB2 performance, including buffer pools, storage, and I/O operations.
  • Perform software maintenance and upgrades (including CA tools).
  • Oversee contingency planning, system backups, and recovery processes.
  • Monitor and resolve DB2 system-level performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot DB2 and z/OS systems at an expert level.
  • Provide agency-wide assistance for DB2-related issues.
  • Respond quickly to system outages and restore functionality.
  • Collaborate directly with IBM to troubleshoot and resolve product-related issues.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in the following tools and technologies:
    • QMF (Versions 7 through 13)
    • IBM DB2 Tools (up to V13.1.0)
    • IBM Data Studio
    • Platinum Tools / Omegamon for DB2
    • CA Insight, Detector, and other DB2 tools
